Decades of excellence

About Waterman

Waterman ships have served the interests of commerce and democracy throughout a turbulent century of change.

With the flexibility to carry some of the largest and heaviest cargoes, Waterman is known globally for its ability to provide creative solutions to the most difficult shipping challenges.

Waterman’s Roll On/Roll Off (RORO) fleet is able to successfully deliver on challenging projects, including transporting construction equipment for major infrastructure developments or support cargoes for the U.S. military.

As part of the SEACOR family, Waterman is also able to offer a complete, multi-modal global logistics service – connecting technologies, transportation, and trade worldwide.

100 Years of Carrying the Flag

From ambitious beginnings in Mobile, Alabama, that began with one vessel and one man’s vision, Waterman grew to become one of the largest shipping lines in the U.S. by mid-century.

An outward-looking man, John B. Waterman formed the Waterman Steamship Company in the belief that the city’s fortunes depended on the expansion of its port. Under his leadership both port and company grew, underpinning the local economy and preparing it for a central role in supporting the war effort during WWII.

Credentials

Waterman operates four U.S.-flag Roll On/Roll Off (RORO) Pure Car/Truck Carriers (PCTCs) enrolled in the Maritime Security Program (MSP), carrying U.S. military and government-impelled cargo and commercial vehicles to ports worldwide.

In 2018, Waterman transported two armored brigades across the Pacific. On a round trip voyage to Busan, South Korea, SEACOR PCTC M/V GREEN COVE delivered more than 20,000 metric tons of military cargo, including 150 M-1 Abrams tanks and nearly 300 M-2/M-3 Bradleys safely and ahead of schedule under time charter to MSC.
